Michael Sullivan Obituary

Michael Alan Sullivan, Sr.

Michael Alan Sullivan, Sr., 65, lost his battle with cancer on April 7, 2021 in the comfort of his home with his loving wife Kellee and family by his side.

Michael was born November 25, 1955 in Miami, FL. He was a lifetime resident of Vero Beach and graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1973.

Mr. Sullivan proudly served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne Infantry "Screaming Eagles". He continued to serve as a weekend warrior with the US Army Reserve-Field Artillery. He worked as a firefighter in Indian River County until he returned fulltime to the Army National Guard Air Defense Artillery Hawk Unit. He later joined the Sullivan family business in 1992.

Mike loved the outdoors. He enjoyed water skiing, hiking, hunting, camping, gardening, gigging and diving, but his true passion was fishing. It was that shared passion of fishing, in 1987, that "sealed the deal", and he married his soulmate, Kellee Day, a year later. For Mike, it was love at first sight and together they made a beautiful, loving home for their family. Some of the memories Mike reminisced were the trips they took together to the Florida Keys, mountains, numerous cruises and exploring Eleuthera Island.

Mike was a simple man with a beautiful soul and free spirit. He was brave and fearless; tough as they come and an inspiration to all. He was strong, kindhearted, playful, fun loving and always looking for his next opportunity to make someone laugh. He was the greatest husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Mike was loved by all who knew him.

He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife of 33 years, Kellee J. Sullivan; children, Michael (Brooke) Sullivan Jr., Joseph (Ashley) Sullivan, Michelle (Brandon) Humes, and Kristin (Eivind) Grodas; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaily, Bryn, David, Jared, Michael III, Madison, Ava, Adalyn, and Elle; and great-granddaughter, Mia; father, Charles Sullivan Sr.; brother, Charles Sullivan, Jr. (Stephanie); sisters, Kathy Sullivan and Patti Radford; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family that loved him and will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his mother, Henrietta Sullivan.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Crestlawn Cemetery with Pastor Buddy Tipton officiating. A reception will follow at the home of Charles A. Sullivan Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia Lymphoma Society: 3230 Commerce Place, West Palm Beach, FL 33407; Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic: 1705 17th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960; Veterans of Indian River County: 1115 18th Place SW, Vero Beach, FL 32962.
