HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD! I LOVE YOU!
December 21, 2007
Dear Lord Jesus, you know of pain and of suffering, of death and of losing someone you love. Comfort those who are dying and welcome those who have passed away. Rest a gentle hand on those whose loved ones have died. Grant them all peace. Remind them that their friend, St. Jude, hears all prayers. Share with them the hope of everlasting life. Amen.

Dad,
How I miss you! It's almost Christmas now. Toofie and Klukkanukka will be here soon. I can't wait to go to sleep so Santa will come..My bed is calling me. I saw those stars that you wanted to show me a week after you passed. You were in my dream the other nite near the lake with your heavy sweater on. You always wanted to be in the woods. How are Nana and Poppy?? How bout Uncle Dom and Grandma and Grandpa? And Tony Ran??
Is Scuba there with you too?? Take care of him. Frank's counting on you to keep him company. Mom is so strong. I admire her! I really want to hug you but if I think really hard, it feels like you're hugging me..all the time! I'm so proud of you, Dad. It's an honor to be your Daughter. I hope that my children feel about me the way I feel about you. Harry is quite the window cleaner. He's been really busy and enjoying having his own business. He misses you so much too. The little girl on the hill is busy busy cutting and coloring and styling hair! Your best friend, Tom is liking his job and taking good care of me for you. I'll see you in my dreams and I'll be with you someday. Are the angels beautiful?? Can you fly now? Are you near that star of yours?? Is there a pot of gold?? You're my Superman! Paradiddles forever! I love you, Gugga

To Millie, Gail, and the rest of Nicky's precious family I extend my deepest sympathy. I saw Nicky this past July and he didn't recognize me, even though we've been cousins for 68 years. I'm sure he's playing his drums with that big band in the sky now, with his father by his side, and his mother sitting in the audience. I have only the fondest, funniest memories of Nicky, and those will see me through until we meet again. Love, Cousin Emelia

Today is the one month anniversary of my brother Nick's death. I know that this is just a short time, but I will think of him a lot on the 7th of each month, and especially on November 7 in years to come. I miss him so much and wish that I could still talk to him and hear him tell some jokes. But most of all I will miss the man he was before he developed Alzheimer's Disease. I have missed him for a longer time than this one month. He was a great inspiration to me throughout my life, especially when I, at 25 1/2 years old had to make a very important life altering decision--should I, or shouldn't I go to school to become a teacher. He was the one who cheered me on, and it served me well. My teaching career was mostly a joy, sometimes not. But for the most part it was something I never will regret doing. Thank you big brother. I will love you and miss you every day, especially when I hear certain songs being played and/or sung. You will be in my prayers and loving thoughts until the day I follow you. God Bless.

Its hard to sit here and write about a person who has done more for and with me than anyone else in my life. He was always there for me and my mom and taught me everything that he could. He treated me like a son,a grandson and most important he was my best friend. I miss him more than I could have ever imagined. I love you pop and will think about you every day. Frank aka Harry

Nick was a really great guy. Over the past 7 years i have been lucky to know him - as my girlfriend's (Rachel's) grandfather. Every Time I would come over he would peek through the window first and knock back at us. He always asked me about my job and made sure I was happy and doing well. I remember how he would pull on me or Rachel's ear and make the squeek noise. He always asked how our kitty was and would make little cat noises. And always asked how we liked living "on the hill" (our house).
He was always drumming on the table or on his lap or on our heads... anywhere he could tap.
He always told me "what a handsome fella you are" and most of the time called me "Gus" instead of Chris .. maybe for fun .. maybe because he forgot, but either way it was cute. He loved his family & friends very much and he always made me feel welcome in his home as part of the family too!
My deepest sympathy to the entire family! Nick will be missed very much, but he is in a better place now. I will never forget him.
Love,
Chris

What can I say about my Pop..
He was such a kind man. Wether it was taking the time to teach me something, compliment my current hairstyle or just give a loving hug. My pop was an excellent hairstylist/barber and top musician/drummer for years and I am proud to say he passed his talent down to me. Everytime I do a haircut in the barber chair he gave me or play my drums (his old drums) I will have only the fondest memories of what a ambitious, talented man he was! I will never forget how many times he re-adjusted the part in my hair because he said it looked better on the other side (he knew best so i always flipped it) He taught me how to do paradiddles and to this day I am constantly tapping on everything! I always loved when he made the elf boot our of the dollar bill, so intricate and always folded perfect! He always took the time to do everything to the best of his ability and took pride in everything he did and always offered a helping hand - even when he was sick and couldn't really help anymore, but he always tried anyway. I remember how, at family gatherings, he would always make me sneak him a piece of my cake or some goodie that he wasn't supposed to have and his eyes would light up like a kid at Christmas when I would bring him a sweet. And now he can have all the sweets he wants without anyone telling him no! Whats better than that? My Pop never said a bad thing about anyone. He loved his friends and family so much more than any of you could ever know and he would not want any of us to be sad because he is gone. We should rejoice that he is in Heaven with God and all the angels and is no longer suffering. He will rest eternally in the arms of the Lord where he will always be safe and warm. To all the family - be strong and go on with your lives the way pop would - make the most of life because you never know how long you have on this earth ... my pop lived every day with the joy of life and will continue to do so in the afterlife! My prayers are with all of you in this sad time and I love you all. Pop will be greatly missed!

Dear Auntie Mil , I had so many milestones in my life because of Uncle Nick..My first Perm (35) years ago !! Uncle Nick pierced my ears!! He gave me my first tube of Mascara !! Those were special times for me and Uncle Nick made it happen.... I remember when Joe met Uncle Nick,Uncle Nick gave him a old tool that he had and it was the start of a wonderful friendship.Joe still has his old work bench from Swansea, It went to Cranston and now here in Virginia Beach.Joe works on it every week and now will treasure it even more. The " Nispa" tree that Uncle Nick gave him is now 8ft tall and bearing fruit....We will miss him but God must have needed a haircut or the windows washed or maybe some new entertainment for the people so he chose Uncle Nick.We will miss him but we will always have our own special memories of him in our mind and hearts. All our love, Rachel & Joe

Aunt Millie, Gail, Tommy, Frankie, Rachel: The service was such a tribute to Nicky: he touched so many lives, and experienced so many things while on this earth! Listening to family and friends it is easy to see that his memory will live on, through family, stories, and traditions that he has established. He always had a smile, a quick wit, a joke, a jingle to sing to liven things up. I remember how much fun he had making up names to go with Tella. LIke Didja Tella, Canya Tella, etc. Will have to retire his name for me, Vickitoria.
Will miss his smiling face and jokes.
May Rudy Tanzi and his team find a cure for this disease soon!
Much love and comfort your way,
Vicki Suplizio

Auntie Millie,
Pam and I were very sorry to hear about Uncle Nick. Our deepest sympathy to you Gail, Tommy, Frank and Rachel.
We've missed you ever since you moved to Florida. My fondest memories as a kid were our family gatherings. Dinners at Auntie T's Christmas Eve at your house and Auntie May's. Our family tree while rooted here in RI, has branched out all over the country over the years and I do so miss seeing everyone. I think the last time we we're together with you was dinner after David's Wedding.
May God be with you and see you through this.

I am so grateful to Nick. He welcomed me into the family as if I had been there throughout. He came with my aunts and uncle to visit me in Florida, and sang with me. Sarah in the shoe shine shop...I will remember him any time I hear this song mentioned. Nick was special to me. I am so very grateful to have gotten to spend a few good years visiting with him in the late 1990's. Thank you Nick. You are a part of my heart. Sarah

Millie and Gail and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I spoke with cousin Rachel on Sunday morning down in Virginia Beach and she filled me in on a few details. I am very sorry that I didn't get the chance to see all of you when I visited Florida. It's been a long time Gail. Lucky for us we have email. When I called my grandmother Muffy to tell her about Nicky, she said remember when he came to my house on Laurel Hill Ave, on Halloween dressed like a woman with nylons, a wig, and a dress? We laughed and I still remember that night too! He was always full of life. He had spirit. He will be missed but I'm sure God has a great band playing for him right now! Love you all!

To my sister Millie & Family,
I was about 9 or 10 when Nick became my brother-in-law..some 50+ years ago. Nick was a "special man", always wanting to know more about life & wanting to do things right, no shortcuts for him. He prevailed successfully in his business ventures as well as in his many interests & hobbies.
Most of all I'll remember Nick for his great whit and being an excellent musician. Not only was he a master on drums but he met the challenge of learning to play many other instruments including the piano & had a great singing voice to boot! Nick was up on all the tunes.
As we were a musical family many times at family gatherings we would take to the instruments and have our own "jam sessions", boy was that fun for all. Yes, I could go on and on Nick but I want to say dear brother-in-law, that you will be sadly missed and it was a priviledge to have known you. So N.L.T. may you RIP.

Plenty of old school memories were shared and there was lots of laughter. We are especially grateful that Nick was able to enjoy our last visit in March and that we got to take some beautiful pictures at that time. Rest assured that he is now at peace.

When I think of Uncle Nick, I think of so many good times. I remember him making up gibberish that sounded like real foreign languages... in Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and any other language that fit the occasion! He always had a joke that he thought was just hilarious, and when he told it, it WAS hilarious! ..and he thought it was so funny when I'd get the words twisted when I sang the ditty, Chetta in the shoe shine shop. "When she sits, she shines all day; when she shines she sits all day..." Try singing that three times!! Anyway, he always found a way to put fun into all the family gatherings, and we all loved being with him. I know I'm gonna miss him terribly, especially when the family gets together. I also know he'll be there in spirit because Uncle wouldn't want to miss a good time! Vaya con Dios, my sweet Uncle Nick, and thank you for all those great memories!

I have known Nicky all my life. We go back to the days when he played drums with my brother John Macari and his Daddy Nick sang. They entertained at every wedding that took place in Cranston. He took with him a great musical talent but I am sure he is playing on with his dad in heaven. We here in Cranston that knew him were so sorry to hear this news. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Rudy sends his sympathy and we all wish he already had that cure for Nicky. He is now resting in the arms of our Lord and looking down on us and he will be a guardian angel for all the Tella family.

Nicky was my "big brother," and I will miss him so much. We had lots of good times growing up--except for the times when he and our sister Irma ganged up on me--the youngest of my parents' 3 children. But it was all in fun, we loved and played together, and we all did our share of driving our parents a little crazy. All the memories that go back a long time are great ones. The last days that he was with us were not so good for him. I pray now that he has found peace with his new home, that he is free of pain and will find joy in being with all those who made the journey before he did. I loved him in life and will continue to love him in death. And I will still miss him tremendously.

Nick has been my father-in-law for the past 24 years, and my friend for 27. We shared many good times and I loved him like a father. I can go on and on about all the things we shared but most of all having him as family was the most wonderful thing. His last months, weeks and days were truly hard for everyone but with the help and support from his family we made him as comfortable as humanly possible. I was there for the last minutes of his time on earth but his spirit and soul will go on for eternity. As our bodies are but a mere shell for a material existence we will all meet up with him in time. I will truly miss him for now.

To all of you who knew my Dad, please know that he had the fondest memories of his family and friends. Even though he had dimentia, his memories of his childhood days in Cranston kept his spirits up. He always spoke of "The Ledge" where he climbed the rocks, the beaches, boy scouting, his "Lady", my mom and their dating days. He was filled with happy memories of his wonderful mother and father, sisters, brother and sisters in laws, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. His musician and barber friends were still there in his memory. I am glad that those memories are what stayed with him. Thank you all for providing them for him so that I could get to know him even better. I will miss my Dad, but I know that he is at peace now and playing songs in heaven! Gail
