RAYMOND ANDERSON Obituary

RAYMOND QUINTUS ANDERSON

VERO BEACH, FL

Raymond Quintus "Quint" Anderson died peacefully Sunday June 26, 2016 at his home in Vero Beach, FL.

At his side were his wife of 63 years, Sondra Rumsey Anderson, and his five surviving children Heidi Nauleau, Kristin Bristow, Mitchell Anderson, Tracy Egan and Brooks Anderson. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brother, Daniel Anderson. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his son Gerrit.

The family gathered in the chapel at Trinity Episcopal Church on Monday June 27 for an intimate service with Father Chris Rodriguez.

Born in Jamestown, NY, Quint attended Jamestown Public Schools, Phillips Academy, Princeton and MIT. He was commissioned officer in the US Navy. He returned to Jamestown and joined Dahlstrom Metallic Door Corporation becoming president in 1967. Anderson transformed Dahlstrom from a small publicly held company to a privately held conglomerate known as Aarque Steel Corporation with plants and offices in a dozen states, and half a dozen foreign countries. He served on the board of directors of Oneida LTD, as a trustee of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, was a member of the New York State Business Council, and was president of the Empire State Chamber of Commerce. He was an original member of the executive board that created the World Economic Forum (Davos) and was appointed by President George HW Bush as civilian aid to Secretary of the US Army. A fulltime Vero resident since 1997, Quint was devoted to Trinity Episcopal Church. His lasting legacy rings out daily from the carillon he donated with his wife Sandy - each bell bearing the names of his children and grandchildren. Quint loved the house he and Sandy built on the Indian River where he was able watch the magnificent Florida sunset every day.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church and Riverside Theater.

It was my pleasure knowing your husband/father since my early years working at the Jamestown Cycle Shop to having dinner with him at the Sportsman Club on his beloved Chautauqua Lake. He was one of the most giving men of his generation. He will be sadly missed by all here in Jamestown and Vero Beach and of course by all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
