Richard Cook Obituary

Richard G. Cook

Jensen Beach, FL

Richard G. Cook MD, age 86, of Jamesport NY and Jensen Beach FL passed away peacefully on May 6, 2018 in Vero Beach, FL. He was born in New York City on September 27, 1931 to Richard J. and Rose (McGinnity) Cook. Dick attended the University of Notre Dame, New York Medical College and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon. He practiced family medicine in Mastic, NY for many years. He loved his work and patients, retiring in 1989. Dick's positive attitude and outlook on life touched everyone fortunate enough and privileged to really know him. He loved to golf, to socialize with friends on Nettles Island and remained quite handy with some suture or removing splinters in retirement. He was predeceased by his wife Harriet with whom he spent many loving years, and survived by his sister Estelle and her family, and great friend Gloria Pulley who spent tireless hours caring for him as his health failed. He is also survived by his children Deborah (Peter) Clarry, Donald (Alice) Baum, James (Victoria) Cook, Alathea Cook and Daniel (Stephanie) Cook, as well as grandchildren Kimberly Goodwin, Jacqueline Cook, Christopher Clarry, Richard Cook, Dustin Baum, Cassandra Bueno, Travis Baum, Charlotte MacKay, Jack Cook, Nolan Cook and great-grandchildren Justin and Tyler Goodwin. He was our family doctor from 1975 until his retirement & until our move out of state. No other physician ever came close to the care & concern Dr. Cook always showed our family. He was greatly loved by his patients.

Steve and I are so saddened to learn of Dicks passing from this earth however, we are assured that he made it to heaven with bells on.. God just received a very comical new Physician to deal with his aches and pains!!!
I will miss my buddy dearly. Living next door and working outside on my Art he would frequently come and chat with me. I loved our time together and he always had a fresh look on everything with assurance that all would be okay. His glass was more than half full!!
We send heartfelt thoughts to all his family and are reassured that he is okay up there in the clouds.
Heck... He already won his first golf match!!
All our dear thoughts,
Ginny and Steve Ross
