Robert Bruce Johnson

VERO BEACH, FL

Robert B. Johnson, 82, of Vero Beach FL. and Middlebury, CT. passed away Tuesday , November 15th after a brief illness. He died as he lived with grace, humor , loyalty and kindness.



He was the son of Robert C. Johnson and Susan Mary Johnson of Worcester, MA. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnne Johnson, four children, Robert C. Johnson of Vero Beach, Rosemary Quinn of Weston, MA. , Susan Currier of Davidson, N.C. and Ann Johnson Prum of New Haven, CT. and eleven Grandchildren, Luke Johnson, Sean Quinn, Melanie Quinn, Carl Johnson, Gus Prum, Annie Quinn, Elise Currier, Owen Prum, Caroline Currier, Liam Prum and Isabelle Johnson.



Bob lived a long life filled with music, great books, family, laughter and world travel. He wrote and recorded songs late in life for a folk music album he collaborated on with his band, Bob Johnson and the Flatliners, called "Fast train to Nowhere". He spent countless happy hours rooting on his beloved Hartford Whalers and Boston Red Sox, accompanied by various cheering grandchildren.



Mr. Johnson was a long time Vice President and Director of Gibbs Wire and Steel of Southington, CT. He was also a former owner of WWCO Radio in Waterbury, CT. , he was a life long afficionado of all things Media.

He was a Graduate of Worcester Academy in MA. and was a member of the class of 1955 at Bowdoin College in Maine. He was active in the Leavenworth Society Foundation of Waterbury, as well as a long time member of the Country Club of Waterbury, Highfield Club of Middlebury, and the Moorings Club of Vero Beach and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Fl.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday November 18, 2016 Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Burial will be private.



The family requests that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.

Bob was a true legend in the Greater Waterbury area. He was one of the most caring and giving individuals to ever grace this earth. His devoted wife Joanne was right by his side for 61 years. He showered his children and grandchildren with love and affection. To know him was to love him. Rest in peace Doo
