My Father was an icon in the world of disabled persons. Afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy from his teens, he staved off the debilitating condition as long as he could (No Known Cure). His love of salt water and boating brought many a Bluefish to our electric frying pan. He and his friends competed in tuna and shark fishing tournaments off of Montauk Point ( https://parks.ny.gov/parks/61/details.aspx), LI, NY. We ate bologna and sand sandwiches on Fire Island beaches and bounce around in our boat on the way home. His love of fishing carried on until he could do it no more. He fished from his [then] three-wheeled scooter. Nothing could keep him from the water..! I will carry on that tradition and advocate for disabled persons. I miss you, Dad..!
