Steven Strait Obituary
Stuart, FL
Steven A. Strait, age 77 of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Stanton, MI passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, at Vista Springs Holland Meadows in Holland, MI.
He was born the son of Clifford & Christena (Armitage) Strait. Preceding Steve in death are his parents, his first wife of 34 years, Nancy (Emmorey) Strait, and his brother, David Strait.
Steve is survived by his second wife, Patricia; daughters, Marci (Todd) Chapin of Rockford; Michele (Steven) Panse of West Olive; son, Kyle (Kelly) Strait of Holland; grandchildren; Katie, Holly and Melissa Chapin of Rockford; Kylee, Spencer and Abigail Panse of West Olive; Emmorey and Andersen Strait of Holland and in-laws; Larry & Joanne Ek of Sidney; Ron & Bonnie Emmorey of Fremont; Mike & Barb Emmorey of Brighton; Doug & Leisha Emmorey of Grand Rapids and Greg & Sabrina Emmorey of Grand Rapids.
Steve was an elementary school teacher before becoming the Principal at Stanton Elementary, where he remained for 30 years. He was an active member of the Trinity Church. Steve also served on the Board of Directors for Spring Hill Camps in Evart, was a member of the Sailfish Striders of Stuart, Florida and a former member of the Stanton Lions Club. Throughout his career, Steve impacted countless lives in the classrooms and in the community as an educator and leader. He will be greatly remembered and deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Steve's family would like to invite everyone to a visitation on Monday, August 20, 2018, from 5:30-8PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton, MI (225 W. Cedar Street).
A celebration of Steve's life is being held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at the Trinity Church in Stanton, MI (415 N. Mill Street) beginning at 11 AM with a memorial luncheon to follow. Steve will be laid to rest next to his wife Nancy at Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton.
In lieu of flowers, please direct any gifts or donation to the Steve Strait Educational Fund for Innovative Educational Practices. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.

Our children attended Stanton Elementary while he was principal. We thought a lot of him. We lived be hind the school and saw things he did special with the school children like the time he sat on the roof because of something special the children had done. He was a special man.
