Vicki Jean (Hardison) Limberis
Our Mother, Vicki Jean (Hardison) Limberis, a tremendous artist, golfer and lover of life, resident of Melbourne Beach, FL for many years in her beloved beach house, died on May 23rd, 2021 at the age of 81. Vicki's care was lovingly arranged for by her children and provided by the dedicated staff at Brookdale Tequesta and Trustbridge Hospice at the time of her death.
Vicki was born in Wood River, IL. She moved to Florida as a child and graduated from Dan McCarty High School in Ft. Pierce. She met the love of her life, Nicholas M. Limberis, while working at the Burger King in town and after dating a short time, they married, packed their bags and moved to Georgia. Vicki was employed by the Saturday Evening Post while supporting Nicholas M. through Emory University School of Dentistry. That is where their first child, Valerie Marie, was born. Vicki then moved to San Antonio, TX with her husband and was a stay-at-home mom & military wife while awaiting their second born, Damon Michael. After several years of service at Lackland Air Force Base, the family of four moved to Florida. After a short stint in Tampa, the family home was established in Vero Beach, where their third (and final!) child was born, Nicole Michele.
Vicki was a loving wife and Mother, working tirelessly to help establish and manage the dental office on 14th Avenue in downtown Vero, while raising three rambunctious children of varying ages. Girl Scouts, football practices, piano lessons, softball games, class projects, rotating front and refrigerator doors and multiple species of pets - she made it look so easy!
Vicki had many hobbies - she was an excellent golfer, spending many afternoons at Dodger Pines Country Club. She excelled at gardening as a member of the Garden Club of Indian River County. Vicki was a naturally talented, accomplished artist, often taking classes to expand her knowledge. She sold several pieces of her artwork throughout the years. She had a passion for photography, using the photos she took for inspiration for her paintings. Mom loved automobiles, new and old, fast or slow. She owned several older model cars that she lovingly worked to restore and cherished her sporty, newer rides. She was a highly intelligent woman, always looking to broaden her horizons with a new business or hobby. She was an astute real estate investor and manager of several personally owned properties from Florida to North Carolina. Mom was also an advocate for the Florida Guardian Ad Litem program, generously giving her time to help children.
Mom had many life-long friends whom she cherished and they her. She was fortunate to maintain a closeness with several friends from high school, traveled with her ladies' golf group, celebrated birthdays with her "lunch bunch" circle and added more new friends and memories along the way.
Vicki is survived by her three children - Valerie M. Deitch (Michael) of Tucson, AZ, Damon M. Limberis (Meredith) of Alpharetta, GA, and Nicole M. Hurd (Craig) of Jupiter, FL, along with eight cherished and deeply loved "Grands!" who happily called her "GrandMaMa!" - Noah, Benjamin and Ariana Deitch, Grace, Julia and Nicholas Limberis, and Alexandra and Christopher Hurd. She is also survived by Dr. Nicholas M. Limberis. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings, Dana Dobson (Jeffrey) of TN and Grady Stephen Hardison (Karen) of Ft. Pierce, FL. Vicki was predeceased by her parents, Grady S. Hardison and Gladys Hardison Williams, both of Ft. Pierce, FL.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 12th at 10:30 am, at Aycock Funeral Home & Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, located at 6026 North US Highway 1, Ft. Pierce, FL 34946, where a reception for family and friends will follow until 12 p.m.
Our family extends a heart-felt thank you with our deepest gratitude to the many caregivers Mom had over the past 8 years. Your love and compassion for our Mother was so very generous. She was tough but her sense of humor would shine through and strengthen the bond between her and her caregivers.
Mom strongly believed in helping those in need. She also loved her beach and preserving nature. An act of kindness towards someone in need or a donation to the Friends of the Carr Refuge (
www.carrrefuge.org) would be a wonderful way to honor her memory.
