Dolores Axford

1929 - 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Dolores Axford, at the age of 96. She died on September 21st of natural causes with her family by her side.

Dolores was born to Joe and Ella Cox on June 30, 1929, in South Bend, Washington at the home of her maternal Grandmother. At a young age she moved with her parents to Longview, Washington where she graduated from R.A. Long high school in 1947. She married Clint Axford at the age of 18 and they raised three daughters. They were married for almost 69 years until Clint's passing at the age of 90 on June 13, 2016.

Dolores worked locally as a telephone operator for the Pacific NW Bell Company for 35 years.

She was well known in the Longview community for her beautiful singing voice. She proudly sang and played the piano for local events and at friends and family weddings. She was an early member of the Sweet Adeline's barbershop organization where she performed, singing the lead, in chorus and quartet competitions for many years.

She performed in the Longview "Cabaret" productions for over 30 years. She loved every minute of each production and was always excited to perform in front of her family and friends. Her last show was at the age of 88 and she received a standing ovation from the audience at the end of her performance.

Dolores was healthy, independent and active throughout her life. She lived in her Longview home for over 60 years and was devoted to her family and friends.

Dolores is survived by her three daughters: Sande Sabouri (Martin), Robin Grasseth (Ron) of Longview and Dee Keegan-Grant (Doug) of Gig Harbor; brother, Frank Cox of Woodinville; Grandchildren; Matt Fisher (Robin), Kyle Fisher (Melissa), Karl Bockman (Kim), and Erica Bockman; five Great-Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private interment will be at "Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park" Mausoleum.
