Gary Brown Obituary

Gary Kenton Brown

July 23, 1944 - May 27, 2025

Gary K. Brown of Rainier, Ore., passed away after an extended illness on May 27, 2025.

Gary was born on July 23, 1944, in Waldport, Ore., to Archie Raleigh and Ora Grace (McKenney) Brown, who preceded him in death in 2004 and 2005, respectively. He was their first-born child. His sister, Nola June (Brown) Russell, of Rainier, Ore., survives him. His brother, Archie Rolin Brown, preceded him in death in 2019.

Gary married Leila RaeAnna Ransom in 1962 in Newport, Ore., and they moved to Rainier in 1963. Leila preceded him in death in 2007. Their two children survive him, Marcie Ann Brown of Portland, Ore., and Douglas Kenton Brown (Wendy) of Rainier, Ore. A favorite niece, Janice (Russell) Blahm of Rainier also survives him.

Gary retired as a longshoreman in Longview, Wash., and owned Gary K. Brown Trucking in Rainier. He enjoyed operating and servicing his heavy equipment and improving his acreage overlooking the Columbia River. Gary had a strong connection with dogs and was always thrilled to get a visit from his "grandpups."

In his last years, Gary was a resident of the Walker House AFH in Longview, and was very fond of his caregivers for taking such great care of him.

At his request, no services will be held. He preferred donations be made in his memory to the Columbia Humane Society in St. Helens, Ore., www.columbiahumane.com.
