Herbert Anderson

Herbert George Anderson went to walk with the Lord on September 6, 2025. Born in Longview, WA, on February 13, 1941, to Henry Arthur Anderson and Esther Marie Anderson. On October 8, 1961 he married the love of his life, Diane, and fulfilled his most important job as a devoted husband and father. He worked for Warehouser Lumber briefly in his youth before joining Montgomery Wards in Longview. During his time at Montgomery Wards, he made connections which eventually led to him being offered a sales position for Lawson Products. This new opportunity required Herb and his family to move from Longview, WA to Lewiston, ID where they settled permanently, overlooking the Snake River. He spent the rest of his 34-year working career as a traveling salesman for Lawson and where he leveraged his acute ability to connect with people. This ability to connect with people and his unwavering integrity led Herb to be the top Salesman for all of Lawson for several years. His virtues and desire to serve others also extended into his personal life. He was a member of the Masons Nez Perce Lodge #10 and member of the Calam Shrine. In his free time Herb loved the outdoors, from hunting elk in the Cascades to fishing for steelhead on the Snake River. Family trips upriver on his jet boat were also a regular occurrence and he loved to share his passions with those he loved. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Diane Anderson; both of his parents; and siblings, Phill and Glenn. He is survived by his sister, Kathy; and brother, Kenny; children, Trina and Lonnie Miller, and Darelene Townsend; four granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held October 4th at Mountain View Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
