LONGVIEW - John was born June 14th, 1966 in Longview, WA to Gerald and Linda Lacy, and died July 24, 2024 at age 58 in the hospital after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father and best friend, Gerry Lacy.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Lacy; sisters: Bridgit Lacy and Diane Lacy, and cousins: Eric Nordstrom and Daniel Nordstrom.
John, a graduate of Kelso High, was an avid fisherman, something he shared with his dad. They took many trips to Alaska and out of the Washington coast, as well as fishing local rivers. They held season tickets to the Kelso High football games each year, and attended rain or shine. He recently left the DOC where he worked for nearly thirty years. He had many good friends amongst his colleagues there. He was a good, kind man who will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be held at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens on Saturday, August 24th at 11am.
Remembrances can be made to The Humane Society Of Cowlitz County.

I worked with John at the jail for quite a few years, up until I left in 2013. We did quite a bit of fishing together: Sturgeon at Bonneville, Silvers on the Cowlitz, and Steelhead/Salmon from his folks´ house on the Kalama. Playing Spades, Poker, or Hearts with him was always a blast; he didn´t like losing! We stayed in touch off and on through FB, but now I wish I´d done more to find the time to keep hanging out. His deep belly laugh was contagious - especially if you really got him going or he had managed to scare the bejezus out of you during a graveyard shift. I remember he loved dogs, loved fishing, and loved the time he spent with his dad. I was sad to hear of his passing. Sending my condolences to his family during this time of sadness and grief. He was just an all around good dude. I wish I could be there for his service, but unfortunately will be out of the area. I will miss him.
