Ralph Powell Obituary
He was born in Clatskanie June 30, 1941, to Ralph R. and Mae (Molsom) Powell from Ostrander.
He attended Kelso High School and worked for Ross Simmons Hardwood for 49 years. Recently, he was working for Columbia Ford.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He loved to fish and hunt in his younger years and was an avid fan and participant of stock car racing as a push truck driver. He also loved to camp and go crabbing with his best friend, Robert Hall. Watching the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks was always a favorite. He was an active member of the Kelso Eagles, Longview Elks and Moose Lodge.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanna (Javens) Powell; his daughters, Deanna (Jeff) Ellis of Fife, Wash., and Beth (Richard) Waligorski in Idaho; his grandchildren, Krysta (David) Maybury and Brittney Ellis, both of Fife, and James and Jacob Waligorski, both in Idaho; his father, Ralph Powell of Ostrander; two brothers, Kenny (Joanne) Powell of Ocean Park and Claude (Barbara) Powell of Kelso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sonny was preceded in death by his mother, an infant sister and an infant daughter, Patricia Lynn.
A celebration of Sonny's life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Kelso Eagles, 609 S. Pacific. A potluck will follow.
Donations may be made to the Kelso Eagles Robert Larson Scholarship Fund.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have traveled this road last year. I have such fond memories of Mr Powell from my childhood. I had seen him about a year ago and he was his fun loving self!! May the Lord comfort you all during this time!!
