Robert Harris Obituary

In Loving Memory of Robert W. Harris, known as Bob, Grandpa and Papa, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Castle Rock, Washington, surrounded by his family. Born in Sylva, North Carolina on March 4, 1942, Bob lived a life full of hard work, deep faith, and devotion to those he loved.

A professional logger for 49 years, Bob found joy and pride in a job well done. Beyond his work, Bob served faithfully as a deacon for 40 years at First Baptist Church of Castle Rock.

Bob had a passion for hunting with his beloved beagle dogs and truly enjoyed his bluegrass music. He also never missed a chance to cheer on his kids and grandkids at their sports events.

He is survived by his loving wife Melba, who stood by his side for 61 years. He leaves behind two daughters, Judy Heminger and Nancy Holt; grandchildren Eli and Hannah Heminger, Samantha Penny, Kassandra Salisbury, and Shalana Blackmon; great-grandchildren Bailee and Eric Penny, Kaidyn Fleming, Zoey Veazie, and Mylo Helton, Olyver and Madilye Newman; and one great-great granddaughter, Aylah Fleming.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dessie and Tolvin Harris; his sister, Glenda Hoxit; and his brother, Hayward Harris.

His legacy lives on in the stories told by his family, and the generations who carry his spirit forward. He will be deeply missed. There will be a family Celebration of Life service at First Baptist Church Castle Rock on Thursday, August 28th at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
