Robin H Bray
December 31, 1952 - October 8, 2024
Robin H Bray, 71, died October 8, 2024 at her adult family home in Brush Prairie, WA. Robin is finally free after nearly twenty years with dementia.
It's hard to write an obituary for somebody who hasn't been themselves for nearly twenty years; that we watched die in slow motion. Robin's death comes with more relief than sadness because of the immense gratitude that she is no longer suffering. The losses that usually come along with death were all suffered by our family years ago.
Robin was born December 31, 1952 in Fullerton, CA to Vernon H Bray, Jr. and Helene H (Armstrong). Robin was the middle child of five siblings. Robin spoke of her childhood with her brothers and sister with great joy. She was raised in Southern California until her family moved to Washington when she was a teenager.
Robin attended Kelso High School but left before graduating to have her oldest son, Eric John Haines, in 1971.
In 1977, Robin married Terry L. Wallace, and they welcomed their daughter, Erin, in 1979, and their son, Marc, in 1981.
Robin attended Lower Columbia College in the 1990s to complete her high school degree and graduate with her Associate's Degree. Robin attended College America to earn her dental assisting degree and worked as a dental assistant when her kids were older.
She continued her education at Washington State University - Vancouver and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Development, Cum Laude, in 2000.
Robin met Bernard D. Bos while attending College America and they shared 17 years together before Robin's dementia required hospitalization.
Robin loved playing tennis and was an avid quilter. She cherished her dogs over the years, but most of all, her beloved West Highland White Terrier, Chester. Robin loved traveling, going to the beach, and gardening in her backyard. Robin loved to sing and was always singing around the house and any time she was in the car.
Robin was preceded in death by her father in 1975, her brother, Robert (Bob) Bray in 2018, and her mother in 2019. She is survived by her three children, Eric (Jillian), Erin (Derek), and Marc (Peipei), her siblings, Bruce Bray, Ellen McGlothlin, and Phil Bray, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Robin's family would like to extend a thank you to the dementia ward of Western State Hospital and everyone at the Aquila Adult Family Home, who both cared for Robin for many years.
Robin's ashes will be buried at Lone Hill Cemetery in Toledo, WA next summer, and a family celebration of life will be held at that time.
