Shannon Hail Obituary

Shannon (Kistler) Hail

September 9, 1964 - July 12, 2025

Shannon Alane Hail (Kistler), 60, of Longview, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 12th in Henderson, Nevada, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on September 9th, 1964, at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California, to Grant and Connie Kistler. She graduated from Mark Morris High School and completed her education at Clark College. She worked as a dental hygienist for 26 years and was a leader in the practice.

Shannon married Paul Hail 32 years ago in Longview WA and together they raised three children until her passing. Together, Paul and Shannon created a marriage that was equal parts love story and adventure. Their marriage was built on a foundation of unconditional love, unwavering partnership, and boundless adventure.

Shannon was passionate about her horses in her youth, with her favorite being her Saddlebred gelding named "Pretzel." She was a skilled competitor who won various state and local competitions each year, and her photo can be found in the hall of fame at the Cowlitz County Fair. She was a lifelong learner who had a remarkable ability to quickly master any topic that caught her interest, from real estate to photography.

Shannon possessed a heart as vast as her smile, with an extraordinary gift for seeing and helping those who needed it most. She was a natural caregiver who opened her home and heart to anyone; whether it was a friend going through a difficult time, a stray animal, or a young person who needed guidance. Since her passing, we've been overwhelmed by stories from people whose lives she touched in ways we never knew about. Her generous spirit shone through in everything she did, including her dedicated volunteer work with Cowlitz Volleyball Club, Longview Jr. Service League, Cabaret and Longview Soccer Club.

Shannon is survived by her devoted husband Paul Hail, her sister Juliette Kistler, her daughters Katie Hail and Stefani Webb, her son Grant Webb, her father, Grant Kistler, her stepmom, Terri Kistler and her beloved dogs Hector and Luis.

Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched through her kindness, her infectious laughter that could light up any room, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Shannon's legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and joy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to be part of her story. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Although it has been over 40 years ago, I remember Shannon and Pretzel very well from our days showing horses at the Cowlitz County Fair. I didn't know her well, but she was absolutely a standout winning many championships. You knew the stall adorned with the most blue ribbons and purple championship ribbons was hers. She 100% earned her place in the Cowlitz Horse Show hall of fame. I was very sorry to read about her passing. Sending deepest prayers and condolences to her family.
