Abel Medeiros Obituary
He leaves a son, James A. Medeiros of Barnstable; two daughters, Anita G. Guzik of West Brookfield and Victoria J. Little of Ware; one sister, Emma Motta of Falmouth; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his longtime friend and devoted caregiver, Penny Day of Warren. His wife Miriam A. (Perry) Medeiros died in 2001 and he also was predeceased by five siblings, Pat, Joe, Art, Tony and Mary.
He was born in Falmouth, son of the late Antone and Maria Mediros and has lived in North Brookfield for 15 years.
Mr. Medeiros was a commercial fisherman for 10 years working on various boats out of Woods Hole and then worked as a heavy equipment operator working on highway construction projects for A.J. Orlando Construction Co. for 30 years before retiring in 1985.
He served in the United States Merchant Marine during W.W. II and was a man who was especially fond of helping others.
A Funeral Service for Abel will be held Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

To Nibbe's Family
Our thoughts and our prayers are with all of you during this most sad and very difficult time.Your Dad was very special to us and a good friend for many years. Although we didn't see him as often as we did years ago we always enjoyed his company when we did meet. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

To The Medeiros Family,
I'm sorry to hear about the lost of your love one. I remember seeing Nibbe almost every saturday at the old North End Pub we would have a couple of drinks and play keno and talk about sports. He will be missed every day. I will keep Nibbe's family in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. I remember meeting him a few times when he visited your Mom's grave which is right next to my daughter and husband. Such a sweet man. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
