Agnes Shepard

Agnes Mary Shepard July 31, 1937 - June 10th, 2013 VIOLA, WI - Agnes Mary (Beauvais) Shepard died on June 10, 2010 of congestive heart failure. Agnes was born in Burlington, VT and grew up in northern VT and Harvard, MA. She lived most of her life in Lancaster, MA before retiring to Viola, WI in 1999. She graduated from Fitchburg State College with a degree in education and was involved with teaching her entire life, starting as a second grade teacher in Lancaster, and later moving into working with students with learning disabilities, one-on-one tutoring, and adult education. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Clinton, MA, was involved in church activities and served on the church Vestry. Later she joined Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church in Richland Center, WI. She was active in the community and as the mother of three sons kept busy supporting their activities including music, scouting, and athletics. She leaves her husband of 51 years, Byron Shepard of Viola, WI; and three sons, Mark Shepard and his wife Jennifer (Ellms, formerly of Wellesley, MA) of Viola, WI; Gary Shepard and his wife Sharon (Silverman, formerly of North Haven, CT) M.D. of Lancaster, MA; and Raymond Shepard and his wife Daniella (Nipper, formerly of Victorville, CA) of Anchorage, AK. She had three grandsons; Erik and Daniel Shepard of Viola, WI and Benjamin Shepard of Lancaster, MA and maintained close relationships with many of her more than 30 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Alfred Beauvais of Franklin, VA and is survived by brothers Martin Beauvais of Spokane, WA and William Beauvais of Canton, NY and sisters Phyllis Graham of Wells, ME and Catherine Kirwin of New London, NH. A service in her honor will be held on Saturday, July 27th at 4:00 PM at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church, Richland Center, WI.
