St. Augustine, FL - Alan Roland Fontaine, 63, of St. Augustine, FL (formerly of Southbridge, MA), died Sunday, November 6, 2016, at the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida Bailey Center in St. Augustine, FL.
Alan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gay Marie (Langlois) Fontaine. He is also survived by two children, his son, Michael Fontaine, and his daughter, Nicole Fontaine, both of New York City; his parents, Roland and Lillian (Vlach) Fontaine, of Southbridge, MA; his brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Pamela (Loubier) Fontaine, of Charlton, MA; his mother-in-law, Lorraine (Hebert) Langlois, of St. Augustine, FL; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Denise (Madore) Langlois, of Ponte Vedra, FL.
Alan was born in Southbridge, MA on March 28, 1953, and was a lifelong resident of Southbridge until moving to St. Augustine, FL with Gay in April 2013. He graduated from the former Marianhill Central Catholic High School in 1971. He owned and operated the former A.R.F. Video Productions for many years until his retirement in April 2013. Alan was a film historian, a Charlie Chaplin and a Laurel and Hardy enthusiast, and was rarely seen without a camera in his hands. He was loved by all, and was an inspiration to many.
A Funeral Mass for Alan will be Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10am at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. I cannot even begin to express to you how very sorry both Ray and I are at the loss of dear sweet Alan. We considered him one of our dearest new friends in Florida. He will always be in our hearts and may God always hold him in the palm of His hand.

I don't where to begin or how to express my deep regret that Alan has passed at such a young age . Alan was such a talented person and I always looked up to him and was in awe at how focused he was about what he would do with his life . His picture taking influenced me for the rest of my life and maybe I didn't take photography to the level Alan did but I was able to take some really wonderfut shots and all because of Alan .He will be sorely missed by me and hopefully God has a wonderful place set aside for him .
