Albert DuBois Obituary

Albert M. DuBois, 50

N. OXFORD - Albert M. DuBois, 50, previously of Uxbridge died Sun. Sept. 6, at UMass Hospital after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Cheryl A. (Nordquist) DuBois; a son, Benjamin E. DuBois; a daughter Kathryn "Katy" E. DuBois; a brother Arthur O. DuBois, Jr. and his wife Susan of Uxbridge; 3 sisters Sandra Hartnett and Patricia Degre both of N. Smithfield, RI and Mary Gardner of Uxbridge; his father-in-law Ralph Nordquist of Sterling with whom he shared a special bond; his sister-in-law Wendy Zinkus and her husband Greg of Sterling and Pamela Ahearn and her husband Mike of Westford; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by a brother Michael A. DuBois in 2004 and a sister Michele Amaral in 2010. Born in Whitinsville on Sept. 5, 1965 he was the son of the late Arthur O. and Eileen V. (O'Brien) DuBois, Sr. and lived in Uxbridge until moving to Oxford in 2000 to raise his family.

Al worked as a Transportation Manager for South Central MA Elder Bus Co. for the past 10 years. He was a graduate of Uxbridge High School, Class of 1983. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Framingham State College in 1987 followed by his Masters degree in Education from Endicott College in 2001. Al had a larger than life personality with an amazing laugh and great sense of humor. He enjoyed eating out with friends and family, going to the casino, and spending time with his children, nieces and nephews. As a younger man, he enjoyed playing football and baseball with his neighborhood friends. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed watching the TV Land channel, the History channel, and spending time with his dog Brody.

A very humble man with a strong sense of family, country, and community, Al never gloated about his achievements. He was a retired personnel non-commissioned Officer for the Army National Guard 25 years, past President of the Oxford Lion's Club, most recently being appointed the Region 2 Chairperson.

His funeral will be held on Fri. Sept. 11 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St. Burial will follow in the North Cemetery, Oxford. To the Dubois family, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news. Al was my first boss when I came to the Guard. I learned a lot from him, but most importantly how to take care of people. Al always put people first and kept a sense of humor through everything. He made me, and those around him, better because of it.
