Albert LaPrade Obituary

Albert J. LaPrade, Jr., 78

AUBURN - Albert J. "Al" LaPrade, Jr., 78, of Auburn, died Monday, February 13, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda M. (Goodfield) LaPrade, a son, Dennis J. LaPrade and his wife Amy of Worcester, two grandsons, Brendan and Nathan LaPrade, two sisters, Shirley Barry of Florida and Diane Houle of Brookfield, MA, and several nephews and nieces. Al was predeceased by two sisters, Janice Berger and Hazel Freschette.

He was born in Worcester, son of Albert J. and Adelina M. (Gadbois) LaPrade and graduated from Holy Name High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country. Upon discharge from the Marines, Al started working at Anderson Corporation and later at Metso Corporation, formerly known as Jamesbury Corporation, for 27 years, retiring in 2000.

Al was a member of Greendale People's Church and sang in its choir. He also sang in the Greater Auburn Community Choir in Auburn, MA, enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling with Linda. Al was also an accomplished carpenter and was very proud of the cabin he built in Putney, Vermont. Above all, Al enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very proud to be "Bumpa" to his loving grandsons and enjoyed going to their sporting events.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 18th in the Sanctuary at Greendale People's Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester. A private burial will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to Greendale People's Church.
