Andrew Pontbriand Obituary
GARDNER - Gardner – Andrew P. Pontbriand, Sr., of Gardner, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
Andrew was born in Fitchburg on July 23, 1962. He was the son of the late Paul Pontbriand and Janet Pontbriand of Fitchburg.
He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 27 years, Christine (Cormier) Pontbriand of Gardner; his two beloved children, son, Andrew P. Pontbriand, Jr. of Colorado and daughter Brittany A. Pontbriand of Gardner who were the light of his life. He also leaves his sister, Sharon Nelson of Gardner and a brother Robert Pontbriand of Fitchburg; nephews, Justin Nelson and Erik Cosgrove, nieces, Emily Nelson, Stefanie Cosgrove and Devon Cormier and great-niece Madison Brown; his mother-in-law, Catherine Cormier, sister-in-laws, Alice Cosgrove, Marli Cormier and Deborah Cormier; brother-in-laws, Kenneth Cormier and Thomas Cormier as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and other dear friends and his two dogs and three cats. He is predeceased by his father-in-law, Paul Cormier.
Andrew was a 1980 graduate of Montachusett Technical Vocational High School in the electrical trade. He attended Bridgton Academy of Maine and Springfield State College. In 1985 he traveled to the Netherlands where he played baseball and coached women's softball.
He was an excellent athlete in high school as well as college and throughout his adult life. His athletic talents are reflected by his induction into the Mont Tech Athletic Hall of Fame. He coached in the Greater Gardner Youth Hockey League and the North Stars Selects program. He was a lifelong loyal fan of the Boston Bruins.
He built a beautiful home in Gardner where he was an avid gardener and landscaper and could make or fix anything.
He loved spending time at Isle au Haut, ME where he enjoyed hiking and fishing with his loved ones.
Andrew enjoyed cookouts and parties with family, friends and "The Gizzards".
He was the biggest supporter of his children's various activities from sports to rock climbing and piano to dance.
He worked for the past 29 years as an Outside Plant Technician for Verizon.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 1, from the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Monday, March 31, from 4 to 7 PM.

I met Andrew and Christine at Roger Williams University. My daughter Nicole Angeley and Brittany hit it off at the Acceptance day and wanted to be roommates. I then met Andrew at Orientation and we spent the 2 days going to all the meetings together. He was a great guy and a father. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.
