Anne K. "Kaye" Fitzgibbons

Anne K. "Kaye" (Kubik) Fitzgibbons, 89, of Old Turnpike Road, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011, after an illness. Her husband of 63 years, Francis B. "Fitz" Fitzgibbons, died on April 29.

She leaves 2 sons, Mark Fitzgibbons and his wife Lonnie of Woodstock, and Neil F. Fitzgibbons of Kennesaw, GA; 5 grandchildren, Dr. Timothy Fitzgibbons and his wife Dr. Christine Fitzgibbons of Hopkinton, MA, John Fitzgibbons and his wife Amara of Worcester, MA, Patrick Fitzgibbons of Charlestown, MA, Kathleen Salter and her husband Thomas of Worcester, MA, and Conor Fitzgibbons of Lexington, KY; a great grandson, Matthew Francis Fitzgibbons of Hopkinton, MA; 2 sisters, Dorothy Girard of Brewster, MA and Elizabeth McDonough of Worcester, MA; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Hippert, Sophie Barre, Rose John and Adam Kubik.

She was born in Dudley, MA, one of the 7 children of Matthias and Ludmila (Yokupsik) Kubik. She lived in Quinebaug for most of her life. She graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1939.

Mrs. Fitzgibbons was a teacher's aide at the Thompson Memorial Elementary School for over 20 years. Previously, she had worked at the American Optical Company in Southbridge, MA.

She was a communicant of Saint Stephen's Church where she was very active for many years.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 19, at 10:00 AM in Saint Stephen's Church, corner of Routes 131 & 197, Quinebaug. Burial will be in Saint Anthony's Cemetery, Webster. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide the military honors for Mr. Fitzgibbons at the cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations in Mrs. Fitzgibbons' name may be made to the Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, 320 Pomfret St., Putnam, CT 06260. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, MA.
