Anthony "Tony" Louis Petrides, 86

FITCHBURG - Anthony "Tony" Louis Petrides, 86, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away on Friday, November 24, after a long illness.

Tony was born August 7, 1931 in Leicester, MA. He moved to Fitchburg, MA with his family as a toddler and lived there his entire life.

Tony was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, where he played varsity football. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army in Korea. He and his family owned the Four Acres Restaurant in Sterling, MA, where he worked tending bar for many years. In his younger years, Tony enjoyed traveling. Mostly though he loved his family, and cherished the large family gatherings that were a constant presence at his home in Fitchburg, MA.

He is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Demetrula Petrides, his brother, John Petrides, his sisters, Pauline Marko, Alice Kiriako, Tafta Quamo, and Fana Robo, and his niece Jayne Peters.

He leaves his grandniece Nikki Peters of Leominster, MA, his nieces Jacqueline Martino of Fitchburg, MA, Patricia Croce of Mahopac, NY, Susan Shatford of Marblehead, MA, Laurie Quamo of Port Elizabeth, Maine, Marie Marko of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and Bette Robo of Worcester, MA; his nephews James Robo of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Thomas Kiriako of Waterbury, CT, several grand nieces and nephews and two great-grand nephews.

He leaves his longtime friend Regina Bourgeault of Fitchburg, MA, with whom he enjoyed dining out and attending social functions.

The family would like to thank Elizabeth Chepleting, his longtime caregiver, who made Tony's final years comfortable.

A funeral will be held in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA, on Wednesday, November 29 at 10am with a burial following at Forest Hill Cemetery in Fitchburg, MA. There will be no calling hours.
