Clinton - Barbara L. (Gamarsh) Ricker, 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 27, 2021. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Bert D. Ricker, who died in 2017. She is survived by her children and spouses, Louise O'Connor & Robert Murtagh of Clinton; Barbra Fusco & John of Bolton, VT; Dorothy Deitzel & David; and Bert J. Ricker, all of Clinton; two sisters, Rose A. Ricker, and Victoria Bastow & husband Walter, all of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Theresa Gamarsh of Ft. Worth, TX; and Eleanor Gamarsh of Gardner; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her brothers Merrill Gamarsh, and H. Fredrick Gamarsh.
Barbara was born in Clinton, daughter of the late Harold & Rose A. (Schoepfer) Gamarsh. She graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1960, and attended Mt. Ida College. In addition to raising their family, Barbara worked alongside her husband Bert for more than twenty years at the Van Brode Company and later retired together from Cumberland Farms in Clinton. She was a woman of great faith, an adorer and devout member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish in Clinton. Among her many talents, Barbara was an amazing cook and baker who took pleasure in preparing meals and desserts for those she loved. She had a special place in her heart for her cats and all animals and enjoyed a good book and fine art. She was a sports fanatic who cheered loudly for the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots. Barbara was happiest in the company of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be forever remembered as the proud matriarch of her family. Calling hours will be held from 5 until 7PM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home 176 Water St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, July 1, 2021 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster.
