Beverly E. Harrington

Beverly E. (Parker) Harrington, 69, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Christmas Day after an illness.

Her husband, David O. Harrington died in 1997. She leaves a son, Rev. Bruce D. Harrington and his partner Johan Lysne, IV of Seattle, WA, and a daughter Diane R. Gage and her husband Chris, her grandchildren, Megan and Drew, all of Sterling.

She was born in West Boylston at her grandmother's home, the daughter of the late James A. and Ruth (Patterson) Parker, and has lived in Shrewsbury her whole life.

She graduated from Beal Memorial High School in 1957. She worked for State Mutual Life Insurance Company before raising her family, and then later worked in the Shrewsbury school cafeterias, High School main office, and finally at the Town Hall before retiring in 1996. She was a long time active member of the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury. After the sudden death of her husband, she became a Stephen Minister and founded a Stephen Ministry program at the church. She enjoyed theorem painting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, at 10 A.M. in First Congregational Church, 19 Church Rd. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, December 29 from 5 to 7 P.M. in the Howard C. Allen Funeral Home, 635 Main St.
