Carol L. (Hersom) Barker, 83
GRAFTON - Carol L. (Hersom) Barker, 83, passed November 28, 2012 at home following a recent illness. James W. Barker her husband of 59 years passed in 2006. She leaves two sons, James E. Barker and his wife Cheryl of South Grafton and Christopher J. Barker and his wife Karen Willey of Palm Springs CA; One sister, Shirley Bennette of Fairlee VT; Three grandchildren, Adam J., Stephen C. Barker both of South Grafton, Zia Willey Barker of Palm Springs CA; One great grandson Levi J. Barker of South Grafton; One sister in law Doreen Barker of Worcester and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Ralph Hersom. Mrs. Barker was born in Worcester January 7, 1929 and raised there the daughter of the late Ralph and Bertha (Lund) Hersom. She graduated from Worcester Classical High School where she met her husband James and moved to South Grafton over 50 years ago. Carol was a longtime active and devoted member of The Union Congregational Church in South Grafton where she sang in the choir and spent many hours helping with church needs. She served as a member of The Board of Directors of Green Acres Estates replacing her husband there after his passing. She treasured times spent with her family, vacationing at Laurel Lake in NH, reading, music, singing, cooking and watching birds and wildlife in her yard at home. She was a beautiful whistler and could whistle just about anything. After moving to Whitney Place in Northbridge in May of this year, she enjoyed the company of old and new friends there. The family suggests in lieu of flowers you remember Carol with memorial donations to Union Congregational Church 86 Main St. South Grafton MA 01560.
Funeral & Calling Hours
All are invited to calling hours at THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton Sunday December 2nd from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral Services are Monday December 3rd at 10: a.m at The Union Congregational Church, 86 Main St.. South Grafton. MA 01560. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. A personal guest and condolence book may be signed and directions are available at:
