Catherine Cabana Obituary

Catherine Barbara (Bergeron) Cabana, 80, of Worcester, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after an illness.

Catherine leaves her husband and best friend of 57 years, Donald C. Cabana; two daughters, Kathleen D. Brady, wife of Thomas Brady of Leicester and Donna J. Ramstrom of Auburn; a brother, Kenneth Bergeron of Auburn; a sister, Marion Mangiatordi of Worcester; five grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Jennifer, Veronica, Julie and one great grandson, Connor; also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Norman Bergeron and two sisters, Phyllis Madaio and Rita Collins.

She was born, raised and schooled in Worcester, daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine (Driscoll) Bergeron and had lived in Worcester all of her life. Before Catherine's marriage in 1951, to her husband Donald, she had worked for Telechron Clock in Worcester for several years.

Catherine was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for the game of Baseball and the Boston Red Sox.

The Cabana family wishes to thank the staff of the Rose Monahan Hospice Home for their dedicated and compassionate care that was shown to Catherine and her entire family during her time there.

Relatives and friends of Catherine's are invited to visit with her family on Monday, August 18th from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A prayer service will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours at 7 PM.

A memorial Mass in Catherine's name will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 8:00 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St. North, Auburn. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made to VNA Care Network & Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608. I am saddened to hear that my favorite aunt has passed. We go back a long ways. I have babysat her children for many years. She was always a hoot. She always came to our house to visit with my Mom. They had many good times together, shopping, movies, whatever. She will be missed dearly.

Aunty Barbara was a wonderfull part of my life growing up. She was a great friend (and Part) of my family. she could walk in a room full of strangers and before long walk away with a new friend or two. her great personality and sense of humor was the envy of everyone who knew her.
