Charles McKeon Obituary

Charles R. "Charlie" McKeon, 82

Eastham - Charles R. McKeon formerly of Holden MA passed away on Monday, January 15th after a brief illness. Charlie leaves his wife of nearly 60 years, Flora (Soter) McKeon. He leaves behind his children: Stephen McKeon of Woodstock, CT, Nancy Daigle and her partner Patrick Gallagher of Rutland, MA, Patricia Cottingham of Worcester, and Matthew McKeon and his wife Elizabeth of Worcester. He also leaves his grandchildren Nicholas, Alexis, Julianne, Courtney, and Sydney. He is survived by his sister Nancy Rand of Leicester, and several nieces and nephews.

Charlie graduated from Leicester High School in 1953 and then earned his degree in Arboriculture from UMass Stockbridge. After graduating he was drafted to the Army and served two years overseas. He was a longtime arborist and worked for the State of Massachusetts in the Department of Environmental Management. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. While retired on Cape Cod he spent his time working in his garden, lobstering, clamming, and fishing on his boat. Charlie loved days at the beach spending time with his grandchildren. He was a true Patriots and Red Sox fan to the very end. GO PATS!

As per Charlie's request, services will be private and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association, 260 Cochituate Rd #200, Framingham, MA 01701. For online Condolences, please visit

Flo, We are so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. We think of you often and always with a smile. Our Christmas trees haven't been the same since you moved. Walt often talks about the venison meal Charlie and You cooked for us. Please give the family our sympathies and know we are praying for you all.

To Nancy and the McKeon Family,

Charlie was a great guy. Always made me laugh. I remember the time I stopped by he was eating pancakes it was pitch black outside he came out and with the help of my car headlights we cut down my Christmas Tree. So kind. God Bless you my Flora Dora. Rest in Peace Grampa Koon!!
