Charles Arthur Towner Jr was born Aug 1 1918 to Charles A Towner Sr and Blanche O "Paul" Towner on a farm in Edison, Co (south of Yoder). He spent his first 25 yrs on the farm. In WW2 he tried to enlist in the service but being a "farm boy" was denied. He later served as civilian paymaster at Pearl Harbor. He met and married R. Jeanne Wisdom in 1944 and they were blessed with 2 daughters Charla and Sharon. In 1946 they moved to town where he began his success in the used car business. It all started with Neeley Towner Motor Company. He had the first Studebaker dealership in Colorado Springs and owned a Ford dealership in Fort Morgan, CO 1980-81. In 1963 he was state President of the Colorado Independent Auto Dealers. In 1969 he became National President and in 1975 he became President of the Colorado State Dealer Licensing Board. He didn't stop there and in 1979 he became the President of the Colorado Springs New Car Dealers Association. During his working career he was an active member of the Colorado Springs Rotary Club and served as President. He always dabbled in real estate, had his real estate license and was co-developer of the Meadows subdivision. However cars were his passion. You might remember Charles Towner Saab and Subaru in the Springs Charles was a past board member of both the Colorado Springs Country Club and the El Paso Club. He was also a member of the Garden of the Gods Club, and the Elks. He was active in the Colovest Investment Club. He was proud to be a Mason and 33rd degree Shriner, supporting all of the Shriner causes. He married Pauline Knopp in 1990 and they enjoyed many years of travel and companionship. They owned a condo in Manzanillo, MX and spent the winters there where they played golf and made many friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Paul Towner, wife Jeanne Towner, and daughter Sharon Mraz. He is survived by his loving family, wife Pauline Towner, daughter Charla Skifalides, grandchildren Katina Skifalides and Evan Skifaides, stepson Gary Knopp, his children and grandchildren, also the children and grandchildren of Pauline's deceased daughter Sharyn Gooding, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. He was a giving man and would help anyone in true need. He loved his family, to travel, socialize, play golf and was a master card player. He was a LOVER OF LIFE and will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 16th, 4:00-8:00pm at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs. Service to be held Wednesday, October 17th, 10:00am also at Swan Law. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

my father worked for Charlie and dave when the owned there car lot on Colorado av. have heard many stories from my father about Charlie. dave would fire him Charlie would hire him back my father ernie ballard deceased in oct of 2016 Charlie was a nice man and lived a long life may he rest in peace RIP
