Claudie Foster Obituary

Claudie M. Foster, 93, of 30 Windsor Street, died on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Knollwood Nursing Center after a short illness.

For 60 years, he was married to Lucienne (Lu) Vandenbulcke, who died in 2005. Claudie leaves three children, Dianne, Brian, and Richard and his wife Reiko, and four grandchildren, Jesslyn, Gabe, Kenji, and Kiyoshi.

Born in 1915 in Ansley, Nebraska, Claudie was the youngest of 10 children born to Perry and Sarah (Comer) Foster. After graduation from high school, he traveled around the Western U.S. until entering the Army in 1940.

A medic attached to the 45th Division, 120th Medical Corp, Claudie served in the North Africa, Sicily, Italy (Anzio), and Southern France campaigns. He was among the troops that liberated Dachau.

Following his discharge in 1945 and his marriage to Lu, Claudie moved to Worcester where he raised his family and worked as a furniture salesman for Sears and Northridge Furniture until retirement. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He will be missed.

Funeral services will be private for family members. Donations can be made to Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606 or the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472. The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
