Clifton Laythe Obituary

Clifton G. Laythe, 85, passed away March 2, 2010. He is survived by his sister, Marion Varney in Newport VT; three nephews: Bruce Laythe of Millbury, Kenny Laythe of Northbridge, Brian Laythe of Whitinsville; five nieces: Doreen Bruso of Millbury who was also his caregiver, Denise Lashua of Greenville NH, Donna Richard of Millville, Debbie Laythe and D'Etta Hill both of Middletown CT. His parents, George and Florence (Edwards) Laythe; his brother, Emerson Charles Laythe; two sisters: Beatrice Hanlon and Irene Beaudry, all passed before him. Mr. Laythe was born March 8, 1924 in Barton VT, was raised there working on the family farm and then was a logger before coming to Grafton in 1961 where he worked at the former Lake Ripple Restaurant until retiring. Mr. Laythe was affectionately known as "Uncle Joe" to family and friends. He will be remembered for his humor, quick wit and his love of playing the lottery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Millbury Healthcare for their care and concerns for "Uncle Joe" while he was with them and suggests donations in his memory to Resident Activities at Millbury Healthcare, 312 Millbury Ave., Millbury, MA 01527.

Funeral & Calling Hours

Funeral Services are Friday, March 5th at 10 am in The Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St. in North Grafton. He will then be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Grafton. All are invited to calling hours Thursday, March 4th from 4 to 7 pm in the funeral home. A Condolence Book may be signed and directions are available at:
