Darlene Gilmore-LaBonne Obituary

Darlene Jane Gilmore-LaBonne, 52, died at home, Sunday, May 1, 2011 surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She leaves her husband and best friend of 25 years, Henry "Bill" LaBonne, Jr. He is the love of her life. She was the loving mother of Bradley W. LaBonne and Ashley M. LaBonne, her greatest gifts.

In addition, she leaves two sisters: Sandra D'Amico, of Hopedale, and Gail DiMarco, of Whitinsville; two brothers: Roy A. Gilmore, and Mark A. Gilmore and his wife, Jane, all of Norway, ME; her in-laws, Henry and Alice LaBonne of Douglas; two brothers-in-law: Scott and Henry LaBonne, of Douglas; many nieces, nephews and cousins in the New England area, and her beloved golden retriever, "Cinnamon". She was predeceased by her sister, Susan Gilmore-Gallagher, of Manchester, MA. She always said that her family and friends were her greatest asset in life.

Born in Whitinsville, the daughter of Ralph E. Gilmore and Glenadine (Glazier) Gilmore, she graduated from Northbridge High School in 1977, Rob Roy Beauty Sciences Academy, Bay State Realty Academy and Newbury College, with studies in Business Administration. She worked for Technical & Logistical Consultants, Inc. (TLC), Uxbridge, MA, a computer solutions company, for 17 years, followed by the New York Times, working in the finance department. She also worked part-time for Harbro Auto, Inc. in Linwood, MA. She was a member of the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church.

She loved spending time with her extended family, friends and network of "TLC" friends at her family's lakeside summer home in Douglas. She enjoyed boating and jet skiing with her husband and children. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling with family and friends to many different Caribbean and tropical destinations. She was an avid walker, and she loved to read.

Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville, from 5-8 PM, Friday, May 6. A service of Remembrance will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, May 7, in the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church, 61 Linwood Avenue, Whitinsville.
