David Kelleher Obituary

David M. Kelleher, 74

LANCASTER/LEOMINSTER - David Martin Kelleher, 74, died Friday, November 9, 2018.

He is survived by the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, and wife of 55 years, Eileen B. (McCarthy) Kelleher; their four children: David E. Kelleher and his wife, Mildred, Patrick M. Kelleher and his wife, Kristin, Bridget A. Veracka and her husband, Scott, and Jacqueline Davis and her husband, Tracey; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Two siblings, James Kelleher, Jr., and Geraldine Kelleher Wuoti, predeceased him.

David was born and raised in Fitchburg, son of James F. and Evelyn (Newton) Kelleher. He was a graduate of Nashoba Regional High School, Class of 1963. Soon thereafter, David and Eileen married, and settled in Lancaster, where they began their family. They remained Lancaster residents until retiring to Ft. Meyers, FL, in 2008, before returning to Central Mass a short time ago.

For more than 30 years, he was employed by J.F. McDonald, Norwood, as a Union Floor Layer, #2168.

A member of the North Ft. Meyers, FL Lodge of Elks, and a Third-Degree Knight of Columbus, David enjoyed following New England sports teams, and traveling with his wife and family. A true family man, his greatest accomplishment was the life and love that he and Eileen created, and that continues to live through their family.

David's relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, November 18, 2018, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., immediately following the calling hours. For those who wish, the Kelleher family suggests that memorial contributions be made in David's name for Parkinson's Disease Research: The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Attn: Donation Processing, P.O. Eileen & all the Kelliher Family:

Our deepest sympathies on David´s passing. I am sorry I could not pay respects in person. I worked with Dave as an apprentice & he always took time to teach us. Dave brightened up our days with his positive attitude and wit & was always requested by customers. Dave ran our company parties as the natural leader he always is with his amazing sense of humor. Dave is already entertaining his deceased floorcoverers in Heaven. It was truly an honor knowing you Dave and Rest In Peace

I can remember David as a youngster when I spent a lot of time with the Kelleher family in West Fitchburg. My granfather, Stephen Kelleher and david's grandfather were brothers who emigrated from a small village in West Cork, Ireland. The families were all very close. Evelyn and James were truly wonderful to my family. My wishes go out to his family at this time.
Sincerely, Bill Regan

David has always been an older brother to many of us. He married Eileen in our backyard in the shade of the butternut trees when they were but teens. He's been there for everyone, forever with laughter and love. Their children and grandchildren are a true testament of their love and devotion. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Kelleher, Patrick and the entire Kelleher family.
A remarkable, lovable Irishman who embodied the same traits, attitude, and love for life and family as my late father. I thank him for that.

Please carry on with his love in your hearts.

Eileen, David, Patrick and Bridget I am thinking of you all and how my Uncle David and his brother Jimmy and my Mom are all dancing together. We are saying prayers for strength for you all. Prayers sent your way. He is the best Uncle ever, never mind he was my only one and how proud he always was to be my Uncle.
