David K. Maynard, 82

Eastham, MA - David Kenyon Maynard of Eastham, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at HarborPoint at Centerville. He was the beloved husband of Lennis (Dempsey) Maynard for 59 years; devoted father of Philip (Joanne) of Chelmsford, Andrew (Lisa Arm) of Needham, and John (Ellen Nestervich) of Boxford; and cherished grandfather of Gregory, Katherine, Elizabeth, Nathan, Anastasia, and Luke.

Dave was born in Worcester on December 9, 1935 to Kenyon and Elisabeth Maynard. He attended Worcester schools and graduated from Darrow School in New Lebanon, NY, going on to earn a Bachelor of Science and Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He served in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant. He and Lennis made their home in Chelmsford, MA for many years.

Dave worked in the aerospace industry for 35 years, at Republic, AVCO, and Textron. Upon retiring, he transitioned his love for model railroading from a hobby to a business, designing and building HO-scale layouts. He also continued to expand his own 600-sq ft layout in his Eastham home.

Dave was an active member of the Orleans Yacht Club, sailing in Fleet 15, as well as a member of the North Shore Model Railroad Club, Nauset Railroad Club, Nauset Newcomers Club, and AMC. In his lifetime, he climbed all 48 4,000-ft mountains in NH and travelled extensively with his wife and family. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Eastham Board of Highway Surveyors & Public Works, Bikeway Committee, and Friends of the Eastham 1651 Arboretum.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Eastham, MA.
