Diane L. (Letteney) Brown, 76
CHARLTON - Diane L. (Letteney) Brown, 76, of 12 Dodge Rd., died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare Center after a long illness which she faced with bravery and dignity.
She was the wife of Philip R. Brown who died in 1994. She leaves her four daughters, Linda H. Stockhaus and her husband David of Shrewsbury, Susan A. Bonnette and her husband Richard of Charlton with whom she lived, Lisa K. Weigel and her husband John of Natick, and Karen A. Tweed and her husband Timothy of Eastover, N.C. She also leaves five brothers, Ronald Letteney and Paul Letteney both of Gaithersburg, Md., Lawrence Letteney and his wife Peggy of Naples, N.Y., John Letteney of Westford, and Thomas Letteney of Fitchburg, three sisters; Alice Letteney and her husband Robert Sanders of Belen, New Mexico, Carole Letteney of Marlboro and Cheryl Trant and her husband Gary of Leominster; six grandchildren, Daniel Stockhaus and his wife Dominique of Framingham, Bryan Stockhaus of Shrewsbury, John Weigel, Jr. and Michael Weigel both of Natick, Connor and Erin Tweed both of Eastover, N.C. and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of John and Alice (Gavillo) Letteney.
She graduated from Lancaster High School.
Diane was a longtime caregiver for adults with special needs, working for the Bridge Program in Northborough and W.Brookfield before retiring many years ago.
Diane's artistic nature showed itself in her drawings, creation of beautiful gardens and love of Irish music. She rode horses when she was young and enjoyed her cats later on. Her sense of humor showed itself at Halloween, one of her favorite holidays. She showed the delight of a child on Christmas and treasured her family. Her grandchildren adored her. Vacationing in Maine was one of her great delights, she loved all things seaworthy.
Phil and Diane, high school sweethearts, were married 38 years before he passed on. She is with him now, walking hand-in-hand in heaven.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. in the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Burial will be private and at a later date in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours are Friday, Nov 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Chance Animal Center, P.O. Box 136, E. Brookfield, Ma. 01515.
