Dino Scarglia Obituary

Dino D. Scarglia, 56

Sturbridge - Dino D. Scarglia, 56, died Thursday, August 17, 2017 in UMass/Memorial Healthcare, Worcester after a short illness.

He will be deeply missed by his wife and "honey," Kathleen A. (Paugh) Scarglia; by his 3 children, Stephanie M. Scarglia, Anthony D. Scarglia and Gina M. Scarglia, all of Webster; by his 3 step-children, Todd N. Ashford and Matthew W. Ashford and his wife Amy, all of Springfield and Stacy H. Ashford and her fiancé George Ortiz of Palmer; by his 4 grandchildren, Landon, Callah, Aubrey and Peyton; by his 2 sisters, Darleen M. Socha and her husband Richard of Hillsboro Beach, FL and Christine B. Carruthers of Winston-Salem, N. Carolina; and by his aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was born and raised in Webster, the son of Dominic W. "Spinny" Scarglia and Georgette M. (St.Martin) Scarglia. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1978 and later earned an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology and Bio-medical Instrument Repair from Quinsigamond Community College. He lived in Greensboro, NC for 3 years and then in Webster before moving to Sturbridge in 2015.

He proudly and bravely served our country in the United States Army from 1978 to 1981.

Mr. Scarglia worked as the maintenance manager at Cranston Print Works Company in Webster for about 25 years and was currently working at General Cable, Inc. in Lincoln, RI.

Nothing brought Dino more joy than hosting family holidays, cookouts and gatherings. He was a master behind the grill and his stews and sauce would make anyone's mouth water. His gregarious personality and famous one-liners were contagious: "thank you for coming in." It was impossible not to sing and dance right along with him whenever you were in his presence, even if it was "Old McDonald Had a Farm." He was a loyal New England sports fan, especially his beloved Patriots. One of his dreams came true this past January when he was present at Gillette Stadium to watch the team win the AFC championship.

The funeral will be held Thursday, August 24, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street, Webster. Burial will be held privately. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 23, in the funeral home.
