Edith Anderson Obituary

Edith N. (Kinnear) Anderson, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Her husband of 61 years, Frederick C. Anderson, died in 2001.

Devoted Mother to four sons she leaves: Bruce E. Anderson (deceased 2010) and wife Marian of Lunenburg, MA, Raymond B. Anderson and wife Catherine of Jefferson, ME, Glenn F. Anderson and wife Georgia of Jefferson, MA, Scott B. Anderson and wife Maureen of West Boylston, MA; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and former daughters-in-law: Virginia Graham & Suzanne Garrity.

Daughter of Orion B. Kinnear and Emma (Maggs) Kinnear, Edith was born in Worcester City Hospital, Worcester, MA, November 3, 1916. Edith graduated from Commerce High School in 1934. She was a proofreader at Commonwealth Press in Worcester and a book-keeper for Ramsdell & Van Dyke Auto Parts.

A long-time resident of Boylston, MA, she was a member and former Deaconess of Boylston Congregational Church, a member of the Boylston Ladies Benevolent Society, the Boylston Lioness Club and the Boylston Graduate Association, and a past lecturer of The Boylston Grange.

Edith enjoyed traveling, baking her famous Swedish Coffee Bread, writing poetry, walking, spending time with her family and following the Red Sox. An avid crafter, Edith spent time knitting, cross-stitching, making dolls and creating scrap books for local hospitals.

A memorial service in celebration of Edith's life will be held Saturday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. at The First Congregational Church of Boylston, 10 Church Street, Boylston, MA. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to The First Congregational Church of Boylston.

So many happy memories--Train trips cross country, Florida. CapeCod, visits to Ray and Marian and Bruces camps. card games. We know her strong faith has sustained her and all of you over the years and now she is at home resting peacefully. Esther and Ray
