Ellenor R. Sears

Ellenor R. (Howe) Sears, 91, of Lake Street, Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 in Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northborough after an illness.

Her husband of 62 years, Ernest F. Sears died in 2004. She leaves two sons: David Sears of Waterford, Maine and Howard Sears of Shrewsbury; two daughters: Ellen Kingman of Attleboro, MA and Alice Anderson of Seattle, WA; also survived by four grandchildren: Eric, Kelly, Adam and Drew and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Sears was born in Worcester, MA, the only child of Charles and Alice (Williams) Howe and lived most of her life in Shrewsbury. She graduated from the Major Howard W. Beale Memorial High School with the Class of 1935.

Ellenor held great pride in her genealogical heritage. She was the 10th generation of the Howe family in Massachusetts and the 7th generation living in Shrewsbury. Ellenor was the 3rd generation to live at the Howe family Lake Street farm.

She was a member of the Wellspring United Methodist Church, the Shrewsbury Grange, the Shrewsbury Historical Society and was a former member of the King's Daughters. Ellenor loved playing the piano, cooking, sewing, gardening and helping others, but she found her greatest enjoyment in her entire family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Sears family on Friday, November 21st from 4-7 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Funeral Services for Ellenor will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the family lot in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
