Elsi Lunetta Obituary

Elsie M. (Padula) Lunetta, 93, of 33 St. Paul St., and formerly of 68 Granite St., Fitchburg, died Saturday morning, June 28, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, after a brief illness.

Her husband of 55 years, Frank A. Lunetta, died in 1992. She leaves two daughters, Patricia A. DiConza, and her husband, Jack, of Leominster and Elizabeth J. Membrino of Fitchburg; three grandchildren, Karen DiConza Andreas and her husband, Michael, of Danvers; Louis Membrino and his wife, Sue, of Newton; and John M. DiConza Jr., and his wife, Melissa, of Ashburnham; 5 great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Andreas, both of Danvers; Philip and Natalie Membrino, both of Newton; and Gianna DiConza of Ashburnham. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Yvette Padula and Mary Padula, as well as several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six brothers, Joseph, Frederick, Anthony, John, Louis and Leo Padula and one sister, Rose Beaulac, and her son-in-law, Philip D. Membrino.

Mrs. Lunetta was a lifelong member of St. Anthony di Padua Parish in Fitchburg and attended Leominster High School. She loved all sports, especially the Red Sox. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved to cook big Italian meals for her family. She was born in Fitchburg, on Sept. 3, 1914, a daughter of the late Michael and Concetta (Losco) Padula, and grew up in Lunenburg before moving to Fitchburg in 1937.

Her Funeral will be celebrated on Monday, June 30, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 87 Salem St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours at the Funeral Home are on Monday, June 30 from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony Elementary School Alumni Fund, 123 Salem St., Fitchburg, MA 01420 or may be left at the Funeral Home.
