Eunice Callan Obituary

Eunice M. (Boss)
Callan, 94
Worcester - Eunice M. (Boss) Callan, 94, of Worcester, passed peacefully into the loving hands of her Lord on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Callan who passed in 1992 and with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
She was born in Auburn, MA, daughter of the late Joseph and Louisa (Picard) Boss. She graduated South High School, Worcester and worked for many years in her sister's owned business - Black & White Restaurant, Spencer, MA. She also worked for several years at American Bank Stationery in Auburn, MA from which she retired.
A loving mother and aunt, she leaves two daughters, Mary Ann Belliveau of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Kathleen Callan of Worcester, MA with whom she lived; son-in-law Richard Sand of Old Orchard Beach, ME; many loving nieces and nephews; and her cherished cat, Molly. She also leaves many, many friends that she has met throughout her very blessed long and healthy life. She was predeceased in death by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Callan; one brother, Louis Boss; and four sisters, Elizabeth Gallant, Jeanette Morrill, Lena Bergeron, and Claire Dulmaine.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Eunice was a faithful Christian person who cherished her family and faith. Her family, immediate, extended and "chosen" were truly her life. She enjoyed life to the fullest and her smile and laugh were infectious. She enjoyed travel throughout her life, traveling with her husband and family throughout the United States, South America and especially her trips to Hawaii and the Islands with her daughters. She was always ready for a trip to Foxwoods, not only for the sport but because it meant a fun day with family and friends. Because of her, we will carry many great pictures and stories of her that will bring happy thoughts to mind for the rest of our lives.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Jewish Healthcare Center, Beaumont Rehabilitation Center and especially the very kind and loving staff of St. Vincent Hospital for the care that they have given our loved one.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 21 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 AM in the funeral home on Thursday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Abby's House, 52 High Street, Worcester, MA, 01609.

I am honored to have known Eunice for over 50 years. We had such fun shopping and dinners and we did have one thing in common..our red lips! We used to laugh about how our lips were everywhere! She will surely be missed.
I loved her so very much. Rest in Peace...Love Rene (the Levins Family)

Eunice was like a "mom" to me. I was honored to have known her and loved her since I had been born!
We did have one thing in common..our red lips... We would laugh about it saying how our "lips" were everywhere!
Rest in Peace. I love you. Rene

Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but with Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Aunt Eunice, you are loved.

Memories of Aunt Eunice. I have so many we shared around my mothers kitchen table. Lots of laughs and many card games. But the one I love the most was her rendition of Let Me
call You Sweetheart while my mom played the piano. PRICELESS

In memory of a strong and loving person... Aunt Eunice lived a long and full life with a fair share of joy,love,pain,grief and ample forgiveness and compassion. She was not worn down by the trials of life and maintained a sense of humor and an attitude of good will towards family and friends. She loved a good joke (ask Frank) and her laughter was infectious. Her husband, Joe and her children, Kate, Mary Ann, Liz and Rick were always uppermost in her mind. I am happy to be counted among the nephews who loved and admired her. She will live on for Laura and me as a happy and gracious Aunt Eunice. Bob Morrill, Topping, Virgina

Aunt Eunice, I've never known a day in my life without you in it. You were the last link to my Mom and always kept her 'alive' for me with your wonderful stories of your baby sister. Now that you and your sisters are all together, let the card games begin!
Much love, Jan Dulmaine Desjardins
