Fay Dicker Obituary

Fay (Erdman) Dicker, 82, formerly of Worcester and Paxton, died of Alzheimer's disease on November 18, 2010 in McLean, Virginia. Her husband of 59 years, Mayer Dicker, died in 2007.

Survivors include her three children, Laina Dicker of Fair Oaks, CA, Richard Dicker (Linda) of Atlanta, GA and Laurie Dicker (Arthur Murton) of McLean, VA; four grandchildren, Daniel and Sara Dicker and Olivia and Caroline Murton; her brother, George Erdman of Toronto, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Lean Erdman and Paul Erdman.

Mrs. Dicker was born in Poland in 1927 and survived the Holocaust as a member of the organized underground resistance. After the war, she emigrated first to Canada and then to the US. She eventually settled in Worcester with her husband where she raised her family and lived for almost 30 years.

After her husband's retirement from Widoff's Bakery, they moved to Boca Raton, FL, where she was an active member of Temple Beth Shalom.

Mrs. Dicker enjoyed all types of needlework and took great pleasure in cooking for her family and a large circle of friends. Her last years were spent near her daughter Laurie in Virginia.

Remembrances may be made in Mrs. Dicker's name to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

Dear Laina, Richard, Laurie and families,
We were all saddened to hear about the loss of your beloved mother and grandmother. Our deepest sympathies go out to all of you. I know the last few years have been difficult ones for you. I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Fay from the times I visited Worcester and she would be so warm and welcoming. The last time I saw her about 10 years ago she was still the beautiful, intelligent, gracious woman with the warm infectious laugh she had always been. My strongest memories of her are of her joking and laughing with her beautiful blue eyes sparkling. I hope you will all be comforted by the many years of happy memories you have of her.
Love Florence (Erdman), Domenic, Matthew and Mark Mungo
