Frances Dion Obituary

Frances L. (Haley) Dion, 85, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford, after a long illness.

Her husband of fifty years, Lucien A. Dion, died in 1997. She leaves four children: Thomas L. Dion of West Boylston, Daniel J. Dion and John A. Dion, both of Sutton, and Kathleen M. Dion of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two brothers: William E. Haley, Jr., of Northbridge, and Robert M. Haley of Uxbridge; nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Michael F. Dion of Chicopee, and a sister, Eleanor M. Gengel of Grafton. Born in Northbridge on May 30, 1926, a daughter of the late William E. and Etta I. (Rawson) Haley, she lived in Northbridge all of her life.

She attended Northbridge High School.

Mrs. Dion worked as a machine operator in the silkroom of the Paul Whitin Manufacturing Co., Northbridge, for several years. She also worked for several years with her husband in the Uxbridge Public Market which he managed. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Parish, Northbridge, where she was a member of the former Sodality of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Women's Guild and where she volunteered for many parish activities. She also enjoyed writing poetry which she shared with many to give them support and encouragement through life's difficulties.

Her funeral will be Friday, February 24, from Turgeon Funeral Home, 80 School St., Northbridge, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 39 Church Ave. She will then be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Patrick Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, February 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assn., Boston MA-NH Office, 330 Congress St., Boston, MA 02210.

You helped me along the rocky path of life and always wanted me to succeed! Will never forget your "little engine that could" advice (I think I can, I think I can, I think I can).

We enjoyed travel and cats together...and Ozzie is still with us...happy in his home and still a "love bug".
