Francis Curci Obituary

Francis N. Curci, 69, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 in his residence.

He was born in Worcester the son of Louise (Coster) Curci of Auburn & the late Nicholas Curci. Francis leaves his wife, Sandra (Erickson) Curci; a son, Anthony & his wife Christine of Barre; two daughters, Nicole Curci & her fiancé Christopher Scabia, Dr. Kristina Curci & her fiancé Dr. Victor Prisk of Pittsburg, PA; a step son Ryan Moriarty & his wife Kate of IL; a stepdaugheter, Sarah Moriarty of Gloucester; two brothers, Paul Curci & his wife Annette of Paxton & Charles Curci & his wife Nancy of Sandwich; 3 grandchildren, Marcello and Anthony both of Barre, Maise McKenney of Framingham; 4 stepgrandchildren, Zachary Moriarty of Gloucester, Samantha, Abigail & Stella Moriarty of IL; two nephews, Michael & Nicholas.

Francis was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and served 6 years in the Army Reserves. He worked for 35 years as an officer for the Worcester Police Department in the Traffic Division and over 18 years with its Motorcycle Unit until he retired. Many years ago he worked as a machinist with Crompton & Knowles and following retirement he worked part time as a machinist with his brothers company City Welding.

Francis was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of both the Barre Sportsman Club and the South Barre Rod & Gun Club.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 5-8 PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 S. Barre Rd., Barre. The funeral will be held on Friday with an 11:00 AM Mass in St. Josephs Church, South St., Barre. Burial will be in the Spring in Glen Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the UMass Memorial Hospice 650 Lincoln St. Worcester,MA. 01605.

I knew Franny from playing ball at Harrington Field and hanging around the corner at Brown Square. We were friends in high school. I never knew him to have a mean bone in his body. What more can you say about a person?
