Frank Bottom Obituary
Dennis / Worcester - Frank H. Bottom, 88, of Dennis MA, formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully on March 18, 2013 with family at his side, at Liberty Commons Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center under the loving care of Broad Reach Hospice.
Frank was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, the second son of the late Frank and Evelyn (Wing) Bottom. He graduated from Worcester Trade, and joined the US Navy during World War II, serving as a gunner in the Armed Guard of a Merchant Marine convoy. After the service, he worked at Sawyers for 17 years, and also worked evenings and weekends in his own shop making countertops. He later worked for the union as a carpenter on various construction sites including Worcester's own Mechanics Hall, Burncoat High, Salisbury Mansion, and Worcester Center.
Frank leaves his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce (Averka) Bottom of Dennis; his daughter Marsha McCarthy of West Yarmouth, son Ronald Bottom of Auburn, and daughter Joyce Vallon of Dennis; five grandchildren, Jason Engard, Mark Engard, Jonathan Bottom, James Engard, and Christina Bottom; brother, Lawrence Bottom of Worcester, sisters, Ruth Strozina and Anne Kirby of Auburn, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. A brother, William Bottom predeceased him.
Frank was a loving husband and father, loved children - a father to many, was a skilled woodworker, could fix and refurbish just about everything and anything. He loved gardening and growing vegetables. He was a very good man, good natured, a sweetheart in fact, and his loved ones will always miss him and hold him in their hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Frank's family on Friday March 22nd from 5-7 pm with a service to follow at 7 pm at Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations to be made to Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave. Boston, MA 02115, or Broad Reach Hospice, 390 Orleans Road, North Chatham, MA 02650.

Ron, so sorry about your Dad, and my God, Martha too. I was shocked when I heard about her passing, which was months after. I tried calling you then but could not get through. I wanted you to know that Connie and I were thinking of you and the kids. Hope you're doing ok. We get together with a couple of the guys from the old days once and a while, if you'de like to join us some time, feel free to give me call. Take care.
