George Kachajian Obituary

George J. Kachajian

Owner Macey Sign Co

Worcester - George J. Kachajian, 88, of Worcester, long-time owner of Macey Sign Co., passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020.

George leaves his biggest pride, his family, including his loving and dedicated wife of over sixty years, Dolores M. "Dolly" (Ritacco) Kachajian; their three children, Darlene Nedeljkovic and her husband Srdjan S., Karen Marlowe and her husband John, and David G. Kachajian; twelve grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jillian, Marina, Kevin George, Relja, Milan, Monika, Kristy, Kristina, Olivera, Aleksandra, and Katarina; a great grandson, Julian; several nieces and nephews. George was born in Worcester, son of the late Sarkis K. and Josephine (Sieckowski) Kachajian. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Rose M. Mastromatteo.

He graduated from Commerce High School, Butera School of Art, and Berklee College of Music, both in Boston. George served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Korea and while there he sang in the "All Soldier Show" with Marilyn Monroe. He was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Savior.

He loved life and fought til the end with strength. He loved birthdays and called to sing "Happy Birthday" to all his family and friends for many years. He loved going to the beach, singing, dancing, music, boxing matches and other sports, as well as the arts.

George loved to capture his works and his life in photos, with many of them displayed on the walls of Macey Sign and within his home. His greatest joy was his family and the many signs he made at Macey Sign Co. He also relished in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a hard-working and fun loving man with a magnetic personality, who would light up any room he entered.

He had a famous quote that he lived by…"Keep swinging"

Live life to the fullest, be positive and keep moving forward. May he rest in peace.

George James Kachajian

My Uncle.
Uncle George.
As we go through life. We sit and think of memories that you have throughout our life’s.
My memory brings me back a long way,
I would guess I was around 5 years old.
I remember being at Auntie Dolly’s and Uncle George’s at that age , were I spent most of my weekend’s .
For many many years
I am sure Auntie Dolly Darlene, Karen and David remember .
As me and David became inseparable, We became best of friends.
Not everyone knows this,Uncle George And Auntie were a huge part of my childhood. They were also always so nice to me.
I remember waking up and Uncle George would be on the couch having his morning coffee, and reading the morning paper.
I could go on for day’s and tell stories I have shared together with My Uncle George. Probably more than a couple days.
Uncle George will forever be a part of me and my memories.
Our Annual Christmas party at Macey Sign. 32 years!!
And our Annual beach day, as we stayed knee high in the ocean and just talked for hrs.
“My Uncle George”..Memories last a lifetime. Rest In Peace.
From the nickname that you have given to me ,I will always cherish it.

Saddened greatly to learn of George's death. I had lost track of him in recent years since the sign company closed down. George and Dolly were Worcester's greatest sign makers for many years. Always in a good mood they were fun to shoot the breeze with in their unique sign shop. I always smile when I see their signs around the city even to the present day emblazoned with MACEY SIGN, sometimes larger than the message they were promoting ;-). Dolly, George was a good man. RIP.

Dolly and your whole entire special family. I’m so sorry about the loss of George, he always had a smile on his face. I do remember him calling me on my birthday and singing, it always made me feel special. He passed on my grandmother 5 year anniversary. He’s dancing up a storm right now with my grandmother ( Aunty Frannie). He will forever live on in all of your hearts and be your angel watching over you all from above. Anyone who knew him was always left with a smile on their face. Take care of yourselves and stay close to one another as it will be your greatest source of strength. All my love, Loriann
