George Sampson Obituary

George L. Sampson Jr. 88

Deland, FL - George passed away peacefully in his favorite chair on May 2. He was born in Worcester, son of George Sampson Sr. and Beatrice (Garganigo). He is the eldest of 9 children. He graduated from Holden High School and enlisted in the Air Force, proudly serving his country for 4 years. He then married the love of his life, Nancy (Harrington) on July 1, 1956.

His working career started at Worcester City Auto Parts and then he moved on to the VA hospital in Rutland and ultimately worked at the Social Security Administration for 34 years.

He and wife, Nancy, split their retirement years between West Tremont Maine and Florida. His hobbies included playing tennis, fishing and woodworking. His passion was telling really bad, lengthy jokes but generating laughter nonetheless.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children Sherry, Sally Ann and Rusty, his grandchildren Daniel, Emily, Christopher and Michael and his great granddaughter Marie. He also leaves his sisters and brothers: Joyce Bergman, Connie Southworth, Douglas Sampson and Bill Smith as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Due covid restrictions, there won't be any services and burial will be private.
