Grace OLeary Obituary

Grace V. OLeary, 100

Millbury - Grace V. (Pescheta) OLeary, 100, a lifelong resident of Millbury, passed away Tuesday, November 7th at CareOne in Millbury. She was born at home, a daughter of Michael and Angela (Mucciaccio) Pescheta.

Grace's family was her treasure. She leaves her 2 grandsons James P. OLeary of Milwaukee Wisconsin and Michael T. OLeary of Paxton, and her sister Aquilina Boire of Millbury. Special to Grace as well she also leaves her many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews, 2 cousins, and her devoted daughter-in-law Virginia M. OLeary. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years James H. OLeary Sr., her 2 sons James H. OLeary Jr. and Thomas M. OLeary, sisters Anna L. Ekasala, Carolina A. Pescheta, Rita P. Caron, Rosanna M. Tabor, and her brother Leonard A. Pescheta.

Grace was educated in Millbury schools and was a nurse for many years at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Grace was awarded the Boston Post Cane Award in March of this year for being the oldest living resident in Millbury, and celebrated her 100th birthday last month.

Grace embodied her name, and will be remembered for her God-given strength and faith in the face of adversity and loss. "God willing" and "Every day is a gift", she often said.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at CareOne Millbury for the excellent care given to Grace. The love and compassion they show to their residents every day is outstanding and beyond measure. We also thank Compassionate Care Hospice for the love, support and care extended to Grace and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Grace's family on Friday, Nov 10th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury. Grace's funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 11th at St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street in Millbury, with her nephew, Rev. Paul J. Tabor of New York officiating. .So sorry for your loss. Grace was my grandmothers & my moms neighbor my entire life. So enjoyed her visits. A remarkable woman in so many ways. Will always smile when I think of her, Eloise & my mom, they certainly never misses what was going on around them. Sympathies to all of you. Sheila Darling Kelley

Grace is one of the nicest people I've ever met. We worked together years ago at SVH when I was a "new nurse". She taught me plenty. God Bless her family

So sorry for the loss of your grandmother. She was such a wonderful woman, loved talking with her because she always put a smile on my face. Keep her love in your hearts forever. Another beautiful, shining star has been added to sky to guide us all. Peace and friendship!
