Harold Anderson Obituary

Harold W. Anderson Jr.

Hopedale - Harold W. "Bill" Anderson, Jr., of Hopedale, died on April 24, 2017, at the age of 71 after a period of declining health. He is survived by a sister, Karen Williams and her husband Warren, of Hopedale, a brother, Alan Anderson and his wife Dawn, of Uxbridge, many cousins, nephews, nieces, and their children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold, Sr. and Mildred (Modig) Anderson, and a sister, Priscilla.

A graduate of Hopedale High School's class of 1963, Harold earned an Associate in Engineering degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1966. He then served in the U.S. Navy as a radar technician on the U.S.S. Little Rock and the U.S.S. Wasp until 1970. Harold had a long career as an electronics technician at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory until his retirement in 2005.

In his youth, Harold enjoyed summers at the family cottage on North Pond in Milford with his many cousins, A lover of music, he played the classical organ and accordion through out his life, and was a supporter of many fellow musicians. He enjoyed collecting and repairing these musical instruments, and often shared his music with family and friends. An avid basketball fan, he was a dedicated follower of the Boston Celtics. He also devoted much of his life to the study of holistic health solutions. Bill will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and unique outlook on life.

Graveside funeral services with Full Military Honors will be Sat., April 29, 2017 at 10 AM in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Mendon Rd., Rte. 16, Hopedale.

Arrangements are under the direction of BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, Milford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tri-Valley Elder Services, Tri-Valley, Inc., 10 Mill Street, Dudley, MA 01571
