She served as the high school girls basketball coach for 14 years, worked as a substitute teacher, was a member of the Fire Department Women's Muster Team and supported many youth programs, including ice hockey, Pop Warner, Little League and high school athletic booster clubs.

Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Key Colony Beach, FL where she worked at a private beach club for more than 20 years, enjoyed the ocean and was surrounded by many close friends. She spent her summers in Westport, NY on the shore of Lake Champlain where she enjoyed the company of her family.

Celebrations of her life will tentatively be held this winter in FL and in late June in MA and NY.

Thanks to all who have expressed your sympathy and support to our family. We were all fortunate to have my mom in our lives and she is dearly missed by all who knew her. She had a way of making everyone feel special, no matter where she was. She had a genuine concern for others. She enriched our lives with her love and her zest for life itself.

She cherished the memories and friends she had in the Lunenburg area, as well as those she made in Key Colony and Westport. On behalf of our entire family, please accept our gratitude for your support and friendship. We have all been blessed by your outpouring of love and support. If my mom were here today, I know she would say thanks to each of you for being a part of her beautiful life and she would ask that you enjoy your family and friends just as she did.

Thanks from all of us.

So much time so many memories.
Helena was one of those people that for no reason and with no prompting come floating into my consciousness.
One of those pieces of the past that resurface with….gee I wonder how she is and what kind of life she is having…
Although my heart is breaking for you all I can see the fruit of her life has given strength and nourishment to a circle of love.
Life never ends as long as someone still remembers.
I will never forget my pieces of “Penny”.
